Hey everyone,
I am working on a more comprehensive update to give you all on the status of V2 and all. I am still waiting on the new batch from the factory so that puts us at a late November shipment time optimistically, to cover all of the ones in the October batch that I was unable to ship, and meet just about all of the orders for everyone who has purchased one or a few up to now. How exciting, and nerve-wracking!
Meantime I wanted to share that I have been hard at work on the software features with the help of another user @Dovydas Stirpeika to get a cool crossover mobile and desktop implementation together with an actual native mobile format. I have put out a number of firmware updates to improve accessibility features and update the interface to integrate most of the most recent work. The most significant firmware update is the ability to switch communication modes or put the device to sleep when you reset it using the button on the device or just unpowering and re-powering it. The changelog describes how it works.
Other updates include native BLE integration into the software for the chrome extension (with some fixes to the BLE protocols that I never addressed) or now a web-hosted version of the app, the adoption of the new Web Serial API on the new desktop browser version, and a new visual feature using my favorite algorithm - birdoids! You can make them swirl around!
I am going to make a more accessible form of documentation for all of this now that this has taken more shape.
On desktop now you can demo a browser based version of the software (works on mobile too but is not the mobile version we will be using), with the USB features like the Chrome Extension, now at https://hegalomania.netlify.app
This will all pad out the V2 launch nicely and hopefully make up for the extra time I've made you all wait. We are working with the EEG now, too, and developing web features for it simultaneously. This is helping us evolve our software plans into a general Web BCI platform that we have been dreaming of, and it gets to be free, open source, and plug & play, with all of the latest web, data, and rendering technologies at our fingertips.
I think the plan is once this year is out to do another Crowd Supply campaign to get some more bulk funding together since I am pretty hopeless for marketing this stuff myself, and a group like Crowd Supply provides the advantage of becoming a retail outlet afterward with consistent sales. That has kept me afloat all year to keep my head down in development and not worry about having a place to sleep, so kudos to them for being such a great opportunity. Bulk sales will help me increase margins in the short term to improve on every aspect, then lower the price long term for the end-user as is the goal. We have a lot of other exciting opportunities on the horizon for BCI and wider integration of these tools, but that's all still in the works!
Any news?
