The last two images of the pulse waveform on this page were taken through our skull, compared to the first image taken on our finger. The signal quality is excellent for FNIRS! Our main goal with this model was to make it the best possible oximeter, powerful enough to accomplish clean signals at depth for FNIRS tasks, where noise has traditionally been a major issue.
This breakout board is flexible and can be used as a folded finger tip pulse oximeter or a ~1 inch depth-penetrating reflectance oximeter or brain FNIRS device. It is highly durable for general use, easy to use with our free drivers, and is the main ingredient in our HEGduino V2: The Delobotomizer which we use for biofeedback and experimental brain oximetry. We are offering it as an open source breakout board for all of your creative and research ideas.
