Josh, hi, looking forward to receiving the 1.0 version from Crowd Supply. What is the 2.0 version listed here in the shop, and what does it add in terms of hardware, software, training, etc.?
Hey William! Thanks for joining me here!So V2.0 is going to be using the MAX30112 pulse oximeter hardware and an even more sensitive photodiode. It's 3200sps @ 19bits (18bits outputted) with fully programmable routines controlled by the MAX30112 chip. The hypothesis is that this will be fast enough to resolve brain waves that are within the cerebral fluids. Otherwise it will be built on top of my open source framework here.
It also allows for standard pulse oximetry math with the nice resolution so I'll be able to detect heart rate variability and possibly the actual AC and DC blood-oxygen content depending on how well that math carries over to my sensor design from your standard pulse oximeter. We're also working on an industrial design for the casing and headband so it will have a commercial quality to it, rather than my taped up V1.0 kits. I'm also going to work toward FDA approval as a pulse oximeter so it is easier to introduce to clinicians.
In regards to the list price, it's early pricing to stimulate the work. It will be dropping to $100 after launch then drop much further depending on how much I can scale production.
